Angell (George T.) is born in Southbridge.
June 5, 1823
George Angell is the son of a Baptist minister, whose death four years later prompts Angell’s mother to move the family to Boston. After graduating Dartmouth College, he moves back to Boston teach school, then becomes a lawyer in the office of anti-slavery attorney Samuel Sewall. Angell helps create an organization to combat animal cruelty in 1868,* and marries Eliza Matoon Martin in 1871. He dies on March 16, 1909.
